The Open Door Art Studio, located in Columbus, Ohio, is dedicated to bringing art education into the lives of those in an underserved population. We are committed to fulfilling the severe need for meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities through proper art education. Our visual arts studio provides disabled artists with the opportunity to work collaboratively with professional and volunteer artists. Skills are developed by providing individualized education and mentoring and by assisting each artist to reach their full potential. We encourage artistic expression through creativity, communication and the translation of original works of art into marketable products. Participants gain a sense of purpose and self-worth through the sale of their work. Our gallery also promotes the work of disabled artists who attend similar art programs.
