The room lights up when Susie Schehl walks in.
She adds a great energy to the studio and her laughter is infectious.
Oddly, she says her favorite color is purple because it is “nice and cool”, but “bright and sunny” seems more fitting to her personality.
Susie’s sketchbooks are filled with lots of interesting line drawings and pastel shapes.
She is not afraid of getting messy when it comes to making art.
Susie’s prolific illustrations show a lot of artistic growth during her time at Open Door.
Susie loves turning those illustrations into paintings and mixed media sculptures. Her face truly beams when she hears of someone acquiring her artwork and she openly admits that selling work is one of her favorite parts of the process.
When Susie is not in the studio giggling and creating, she likes to take walks and watch television. There is no doubt that a bit more laughing is involved as well.
