Doug Gantt is a painter with a plan. His prolific body of work centers on several themes that are continually revisited. He considers his work in the same vein as the “Western style of painting.”
He finds painting to be comforting and satisfying. Doug enjoys that his creations can be didactic and he loves telling people about his various inspirations.
Each image is painted with many layers of acrylic paint and Doug often divides the canvas into smaller vignettes that surround the main subject.
Born in 1952, Doug has spent the majority of his life in central Ohio. Doug is still very close with his parents and he visits them almost every weekend.
Besides historical research and painting, Doug enjoys sewing and competing at the Special Olympics.
He gets great fulfillment from exhibiting and selling his pieces around the country and he plans to continue searching for local and national art opportunities.
